Endorsements, part III: the courts
Supreme Court Justice, Place 7: Dale Wainwright
Incumbent Dale Wainwright is clearly the better man for this job. He understands his role as judge-the-interpreter not judge-the-legislator and, despite allegations that the Supreme Court has a considerable backlog, the court he served on issued the highest number of opinions of any court this century during the last fiscal year. While many criticize Wainwright and the rest of the court for issuing too many “pro-business” decisions, his opinions, specifically, have consistently applied the law fairly and as written. A balanced perspective is important to any judicial body, but let’s not sacrifice the better, more qualified candidate in an effort to bring about a balance of political ideology.
